ADDITIONAL REFERENCE DOCUMENTS

Plug Loads and Lighting Modeling. A Codes and Standards Enhancement (CASE) report that presents the Statewide CASE Team's recommended rulesets to model the per-household annual energy consumption of plug loads and lighting in newly constructed residential buildings.

HPWHsim
HPWHsim is a simulation tool used to estimate the energy use of heat pump water heaters.

California Residential Domestic Hot Water Draw Profiles (Revised March 2019). Documents the domestic hot water draw profiles used in the CBECC-Res simulations.

SAM Photovoltaic Model
The System Advisory Model (SAM) is a techno-economic feasibility model for renewable energy projects. It is maintained and distributed by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

PVWatts Version 5 Manual. PVWatts calculator is a web application developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) that estimates the electricity production of a grid-connected photovoltaic systems based on a few simple inputs.

A Simplified Model for Flat-Plate Photovoltaic Arrays. This report describes a computer model that accurately predicts the cell temperature of a photovoltaic array to within 5°C.

Demand Response (DR) Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) Implementation in CBECC-Res. A 2021 report that describes the software's ability to simulate the impacts of unitary HPWHs that are compliant with Joint Appendix 13 (JA13) to the California Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6): Qualification Requirements for Heat Pump Water Heater Demand Management Systems. Software users can explore how HPWHs with load management functionality, that are controlled and operated in accordance with JA13, impact building energy use (kWh) and Time Dependent Valuation of energy and energy costs (TDV kBTU and cTDV$). CBECC-Res allows load management credit for all residential unitary HPWH water heaters that CEC has certified as compliant with JA13.
